Dermatologists and Physicians Providing Freckle Removal

Freckles are the product of sun exposure. Essentially freckles are little brown spots of sun damage on our faces. Often they will darken with increased sun exposure and fad with decreased exposure. They will not, however, disappear completely without treatment. To remove freckles, you will need to seek treatment with an experienced physician.

There are a number of devices now available for the removal of freckles, such as lasers and intense pulsed light devices. These devices use light energy to target the melanin pigment which is in the freckles to ‘zap’ them and remove them. Melanin pigment absorbs the light energy and causes their removal. These treatments are highly effective and can usually be performed in just one treatment. It’s important though to seek out a dermatologist to check any brown spots prior to having freckle removal as those spots may be a sign of skin cancer.
