Many find freckles, or ‘ephelides’ as they are called in dermatology, cute. Often they are harmless little brown specks around our nose or cheeks. They are the result of sun exposure and an attempt by our skin to respond to this exposure by packaging melanin pigment to absorb the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Unfortunately in skin that has developed freckles our skin has not packaged this melanin properly and this is displayed as a ‘freckle’.

Removing freckles is a fairly straightforward process and laser treatment is highly effective for treating them. You should see a dermatologist before having any brown spots removed as they may have the potential to be cancerous. A dermatologist can check them to be sure they can be safely removed.

I went to see Dr. Carter for my hair removal. At first, I was a little worried about the procedure but it went great. Dr. Carter is a wonderful doctor, very professional and attentive. I was told all about the procedure and the laser, so I felt relaxed and comfortable. It’s really important having the right practitioner doing the job. Warm and welcoming staff, this place is the best.
