Many find freckles, or ‘ephelides’ as they are called in dermatology, cute. Often they are harmless little brown specks around our nose or cheeks. They are the result of sun exposure and an attempt by our skin to respond to this exposure by packaging melanin pigment to absorb the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Unfortunately in skin that has developed freckles our skin has not packaged this melanin properly and this is displayed as a ‘freckle’.
Removing freckles is a fairly straightforward process and laser treatment is highly effective for treating them. You should see a dermatologist before having any brown spots removed as they may have the potential to be cancerous. A dermatologist can check them to be sure they can be safely removed.

I had a very pleasant encounter with Dr. Shelton during my consultation with him today. He was very thorough, answered all my questions and was professional. His staff was helpful and friendly and the office was very tastefully decorated.
I like the fact that I didnt feel hurried at all and that Dr. Shelton gave his honest opinion and recommendation as to what he thought would be best for my needs. Thank you for a great consult!
